Fun with numbers – Iowa presidential exit polls
  1. Your exit poll numbers don’t include Iowa’s minority groups.
Nationwide every single ethnic minority broke for Obama.
Nationwide the Republican demographic base is aging white guys. Which matches up with Iowa’s exit polls.
It also explains the Republican naive assumption that simply running candidates of color is enough to get people of color to vote Republican. Republicans act as if they can ignore the interests of ethnic minorities, insult ethnic minorities, and none of that will matter if they can just dig up a Herman Cain, Allen West, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindahl and all us ethnic minorites are going, oh wow, go running to the Republicans. It’s like expecting women to vote for Michelle Bachmann just because she’s not a man.
What is obvious to everyone, except Republicans, is that in twenty, thirty years their demographic base is going to be either dead or senile.
That demographic base also explains Steve King’s re-election. He survived the redrawn district lines because the line split Polk and Story Counties. The urban, educated, younger, diverse populations of both these counties, standing alone, is not sufficient to offset the rural, less educated, overwhelmingly white and aging populations of the rest of Districts 3 and 4. I don’t think, however, King would have survived the election if his district had included Des Moines

    • In the Iowa exits, it looks like 93 percent of the sample was white, so I don’t think they could draw valid conclusions from other, much smaller racial samples.

      • Iowa is about 93% white.
Actually, a breakdown of voter choices by ethnic group would tell a lot about ethnic minorities living and voting in Iowa. Which means you can draw valid conclusions

    • ” insult ethnic minorities, ”

Okay, Roberta, let’s hear where you came up with that racist assertion? You may want to look up the phrase “psychological projection”, cause I think you’re a poster child for that affliction.

  2. Mr Abernathy,
Romney lost 95% African Americans, 70% Latino Americans , 60% Asian Americans, 70% Indian (India) Americans
Now you tell me how that happened.
You can’t keep dismissing people who are pointing out the obvious as racist and then wonder why ethnic minorities in this country are voting for Democrats in ever increasing numbers. When you add in white people who find bigotry offensive, women who find the Republican dismissal of equal pay and reproductive health care issues offensive, those who found Romney’s dismissal of the 47% as lazy and irresponsible offensive, who do you have left?

  3. Roberta you told me to deal with it last week. Your guy won again and I am here to tell you to… hang on to your wig sugar pie, once the Bush tax cuts run out… the bubble has burst and it will be downhill just like Carter. Of coarse it will be the republican houses fault. Two of three branches and Obama won’t pull it off. He doesn’t want too… he has made the dept and the majority of working people will “need to pay a little more”.

Roberta do you work or have you worked? Socialism is NOT the answer… what if we who work decide staying at home isn’t so bad? Maybe daytime tv isn’t so brain rotting….. I live in a low income complex, many folks work…. I know I’ve talk with several ladies with children trying to make ends meat, Turns out they get that they need to work to support the other ladies who’s baby daddies are gone. Maybe they are busy….making more babies or locked up for no good reason. Bottom line strap your hair on and start your spin machine because the finger pointing will began in January. I have been kind enough to inform you of what is coming, please do not be ungracious or bitter. We (working folks) all are going to need to pull together during these next four years.

  4. Mr Woods,
    1) I’ve worked since I was sixteen
    2) I don’t know where you’re getting this “socialism” stuff. Obama is not a socialist and Democrats are much further to the right than they were when I was a kid
    3) I find the term “baby daddy” really offensive
My advice to you? Turn off FOX News, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh, give Capt Steve the boot. The guy who referred to people like you as “the 47%” lost the election. That should be a plus

  5. Wait until the BUSH tax cuts go away, I don’t think Obama will/can be able to provide any relief. Sorry you find “Baby Daddy” offensive. Know that I am caring for my children and that I haven’t put my hand into anyone’s pocket for help. I’ll let you go now, Lord knows you are going to the time figure out how to spin the next four years.

  6. Mr Woods,
I know exactly what will happen when the Bush tax cuts expire. I’ve known since this past summer when the whole issue got kicked down the road to be dealt with after the election
    1) those tax cuts were set to expire in 2010. They were given a reprieve because of the Recession
    2) this time around they will expire but the expiration won’t kick in until the end of the fiscal year.
    3) Republicans are going to hold hostage extending the tax cuts for the 98% of us whose income is less than $200,000–$250,000 because they want them extended to those with incomes higher than that. Like they did the last time.
    4) this time around Obama is going to call their bluff.
What will happen is that the tax cuts will be extended for the lower 98% because not extending them is a political third rail which Republicans don’t dare touch because of their “no new taxes” pledge.
However, Republicans are going to have to accept letting the Bush tax cuts expire for those in the upper 2% because we have this little thingy called the deficit which we have to deal with.
Your taxes are not going to go up. So don’t worry about it.
As for your kids, make sure your pride doesn’t put them at riask. Ok

    • Correction on my post. The tax cuts will expire on Jan 1 but any changes in the terms of expiration (as in whose taxes go up and whose don’t) can and will be corrected retroactively to Dec 31.
Other changes due to sequestration will be phased in. The “Cliff” is a metaphor.

      • You are living in a dream world. Since the election the following has happened. The Dow has dropped 400 points in three days. Thousands have been laid off as employers begin to prepare for the next four years. Then, as Obamacare starts kicking in, all those employees that are working full time now and not receiving healthcare, will be cut down to under 30 hours. The next four years are going to be bleak. You can deny it all you want, but just wait and remember that this is yours.
