State Senate candidate Dan Zumbach is being hypocritical in supporting bonding to rebuild the dam at Lake Delhi while criticizing Rep. Nate Willems’ support of I-JOBS bonding, a move that put people back to work during the worst part of our recession.
Zumbach has run TV commercials criticizing his opponent Willems for Willems’ vote in favor of I-JOBS, the state infrastructure funding project. The facts:
l I-JOBS helped make possible almost 1,700 public improvement projects, such as work on the Anamosa sewage treatment plant, the Monticello Emergency Response Center, and many other city/county road projects, helping to keep a lot of construction workers working.
l Iowa’s public debt is still the second lowest of all 50 states, and the state has projected budget surpluses this year. Investing in Iowa’s infrastructure for the present and future is the business of state government.
I am voting for a state Senate candidate who is willing to invest in Iowa’s future and talks straight to voters: Willems for District 48.
