Shots fired after Marshalltown armed robbery; officer, suspect hit

Police in Marshalltown were called to an armed robbery Friday morning.

Officials confirmed they are investigating an armed robbery with shots fired.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican newspaper is reporting that police have arrested two men accused of robbing the Lennox Credit Union at 1004 East Main St. just after 9:30 a.m.

The Times-Republican said that “during a foot chase, one of the suspects turned and shot a Marshalltown Police Department officer, striking the officer in the leg. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.”
