CEDAR RAPIDS — RuffaloCODY in Cedar Rapids has acquired Scannell & Kurz, a Pittsford, N.Y., enrollment management consulting firm that provides strategic pricing and financial aid analysis to colleges and universities.

Scannell & Kurz will be known as a RuffaloCODY company, retaining its name, staff and client portfolio. The company has about 20 full-time employees, increasing RuffaloCODY’s full-time employment to more than 500.

With the addition of Scannell & Kurz, RuffaloCODY will offer colleges and universities enrollment management services that includes full service search, inquiry targeting and management, application generation and completion, strategic financial aid analysis and consulting, retention modeling, and a full complement of services and tools for effectively communicating with prospective students.

“Our two organizations share mutual goals and common vision,” said Al Ruffalo, chief executive officer of RuffaloCODY. “We’ve been talking with Scannell & Kurz for over a year and we’ve actually done some collaborative work with them.

“They’re a solid organization that will bring some different expertise to our enrollment management group. The overlap of the clients that we have between us is not very great. Together, we’re a stronger resource for colleges and universities with combined expertise and the technology needed to reach today’s students.”

Jim Scannell, president of Scannell & Kurz, said the merger is viewed as a great cultural fit.

“Given the breadth of expertise that our staffs both bring to higher education enrollment management challenges, we are excited about the potential synergy created by this joining of forces,” Scannell said.

RuffaloCODY, founded in 1991, serves institutions of higher education and high-affinity nonprofit organizations. The company serves nearly 1,000 organizations around the globe.
