AMES — Iowa State men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg said Thursday senior guard Chris Babb has been suspended for the first three games of the 2012-13 season for violating team rules.

Hoiberg said he’d have no further comment on the suspension — which includes Sunday’s 1 p.m. exhibition game against Minnesota State and the first two regular season games.

Babb averaged 7.8 points and 4.u1 rebounds last season.

He said the situation from which the suspension arose took place last season.

“I’m over it, coach is over it, just learn from it and move on,” said Babb, one of the Big 12’s top defenders.
