CEDAR RAPIDS — Lil’ Drug Store Products has acquired another brand to add to its suite of women’s personal health care products.

The Cedar Rapids company on Thursday said it has purchased Pre-Seed, a feminine lubricant from BioOrigyn of Spokane, Wash.

Pre-Seed is a fertility-friendly lubricant with a patented formula designed to provide safe lubrication that does not harm sperm. Pre-Seed is safe for use by couples trying to conceive, a claim supported by independent, published clinical studies.

Dr. Joanna Ellington, a sperm physiologist, invented Pre-Seed’s isotonic formula to meet women’s needs for safe lubrication when trying to get pregnant.

Lil’ Drug Store will add Pre-Seed to its suite of women’s personal health care products that include estrogen-free Replens Long-Lasting Vaginal Moisturizer, RepHresh Vaginal Gel, RepHresh Pro-B and Wellgate  orthopedic supports.

Chris DeWolf, president and chief executive officer of Lil’ Drug Store Products, said Pre-Seed complements and strengthens his company’s commitment to solving real problems and improving the quality of life for women worldwide.

“We are pleased to welcome Pre-Seed to our product family and look forward to building on the success of the brand,” DeWolf said.

Ellington, co-founder of BioOrigyn, said she is confident in Lil’ Drug Store Products’ ability to further grow the already successful Pre-Seed brand.

“Lil’ Drug Store Products’ expertise in the rapidly growing women’s health care market, combined with its global distribution network, makes this a great combination,” Ellington said.

Lil’ Drug Store Products sells its family of products through traditional stores and Internet retailers. The northeast Cedar Rapids company has three divisions — convenience retailing, consumer products, and international.
