A Clinton man charged in the sexual assault of female resident at an Anamosa care facility was sentenced last week in Jones County District Court on lesser charges and received two years probation.

Timothy Stromberg

Timothy Stromberg, 51, pleaded guilty to amended charges of assault causing bodily injury and false imprisonment, both serious misdemeanors, and was sentenced Oct. 22, to one year in jail, which was suspended, according to court records. While on probation, he will reside at Abilities Unlimited, Inc. in Perry, a facility for adults with mental and emotional issues.

Stromberg, originally charged with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse, was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 21-year-old Fairview Care Facility resident in June 2011.

Two other men also charged in the assault, Allen Franks, 20, of Cedar Rapids, and Bruce Brecht, 22, of Marengo, also pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury and received jail time.

All three of the men had been court-ordered to the care facility. Franks and Stromberg were in court-approved guardianship arrangements due to mental issues, according to court records.
