Through a handout at Mount Vernon’s Heritage Day Parade, I became aware of Quentin Stanerson, who is running for Iowa House District 95.
For a young family man in his 30s, he has had many life experiences. He’s served in the Marines for four years, graduated from Kirkwood and Coe colleges, and earned a master’s degree in education administration. For eight years, he has been working in the North-Linn school district, teaching government, economics, geography and U.S. and world history — all subjects that make an informed legislator.
His leadership abilities are evident by the awards he has won. Three times in the last decade he has received the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Program Favorite Teacher’s Award. He also was named State Class 1A Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2008.
However, what impresses me most, is his character. He is an honest, intelligent, approachable, down- to-earth-guy who holds strong family values.
