UPDATE: Officials say a natural gas leak that prompted an evacuation in part of Monona in northeast Iowa has been capped.

The Clayton County sheriff’s office ordered the evacuation around 11 a.m. Wednesday after a construction company hit the gas line while working on a fiber optic line. The order covered a two-block radius and included the downtown area.

Officials said most people should be back in their homes and businesses by early afternoon.

No injuries have been reported.
