Coaches afraid younger players will lose confidence if they play too early, then Kirk bemoaning the lack of experience on the team, hmmm, sounds like a catch 22. Sounds like Kirk is recruiting some mentally fragile kids. It’s my experience that young kids LIKE playing time. It’s what gives players confidence for later in their career and makes them work harder in practice. What doesn’t work is seeing a player perform poorly that’s ahead of you and not getting your chance to prove what you can do.
Yes, thank you, scrap the 3 yard out route!!! The chance of Vandy throwing a pick or coming up short 99% of the time makes this route complete garbage. We don’t have Jordan Shipley, man.
Why not play Rudock or Sokol? Especially Rudock, his clock is ticking. At the very least they should be getting a few series a game. Can they really be any worse than constant 3 and outs all game long? Vandenberg has a worse passer rating than 2.. yes, 2 Iowa State QB’s. Yikes!
If they are worried about smashing any confidence left in Vandy by playing the other QBs than he shouldn’t be playing, period. Maybe it will ring the alarms in his mind that hey, this is my senior year and last go ’round, let’s get it together.
And yes, I understand the caveats with play calling, receiver drops, etc. It’s not 100% on Vandy, and yes he has a lot on his plate, but.. but… If this is a developmental team right now, than why not get some development out of the the FUTURE STARTING QB. James is like Kirk in that they are great guys and great representatives of the University, but they aren’t getting it done. Kirk needs to reasses his game strategy/play calling and Vandy needs to share time or sit completely, change has to take place. In one season, we barely beat one MAC team, lost to another MAC team, laid an egg against ISU and was manhandled in every phase by Penn State. This isn’t acceptable, we’re not asking for 10-2, but for gosh sakes this is embarrasing.
