IOWA CITY — So, how about those Michigan Wolverines.
Somehow, Michigan found a way to beat Michigan State, staying unbeaten in Big Ten play until at least next Saturday, when it plays at Nebraska. Four unbeatens remain in the conference, with one to lose that tag tonight at Kinnick Stadium. They are Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa.
Meanwhile, Ohio State improved to 4-0 in the Big Ten with its come-from-behind overtime win over Purdue. Penn State needs to win tonight to get to 3-0. The Nittany Lions host OSU next Saturday in the IneligiBowl.
If the Hawkeyes prevail, the Legends will look like this:
Iowa 3-0
Michigan 3-0
Nebraska 2-1
Northwestern 2-2
Michigan State 1-3
Minnesota 0-3
If Iowa loses? Well, then it loses.
But since this is filed before the kickoff in Kinnick, let’s assume next Saturday’s Iowa-Northwestern game will be of importance.
But for that to fully come true, Iowa needs to beat Penn State. If it doesn’t? Well, then it doesn’t.
Iowa finally ran into a team who made the catches when open and a QB that we thought Vandenberg would be. He made all the right reads and he’s not a 5th year senior. I’ve seen enough of Vandenberg to expect nothing the rest of the season. No running game, a QB playing like a freshman, a defense that can generate no pass rush. We might beat Indiana, but they can score. Otherwise don’t see any wins left. We were down by 31 points late in the third and we punted. Vandenberg took every snap even down 38 to 7. What more is there to say. Kirk will not have a QB controversy, period. So enjoy the keystone cops of college football the rest of the season that is the Iowa offense. I got to admit I was switching to AMC’s Frightfest but Iowa’s offense was scarier. The good news basketball is coming and they have a coach who plays to win.
