A Cedar Rapids man faces several felony charges after he was arrested in connection to an armed robbery and shooting in Manchester last week.

Timothy L. Reynolds, 20, of 1608 Hillside Dr. NW, is accused of participating in an armed robbery at a residence in Manchester that was reported around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 12. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of false imprisonment, first-degree burglary, going armed with intent and other theft charges.

Manchester Police Chief Bruce Trapp said Reynolds allegedly had a handgun during the break-in at the single-family residence in the southwest part of the city. He declined to provide a specific address. According to a criminal complaint, Reynolds allegedly told one of the victims to run and when the person did, shot the person once  in the right hand. Reynolds also allegedly pointed the gun at another person inside the house and prevented at least one person from leaving.

Trapp said cash and cell phones were taken during the incident, which he described as “not random.” He said his department was investigating other suspects who may have been involved, and more arrests were possible.

A warrant was issued for Reynolds’ arrest on Oct. 16. Cedar Rapids police were investigating two separate reports of shots fired Thursday night when police stopped the smaller, light-colored car Reynolds had been driving. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Reynolds was not believed to be involved in the gunshots, but the description of Reynolds’ car happened to be similar to a vehicle seen leaving the area following the gunshots.

Officers took Reynolds into custody around 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of M Avenue NW. He was transferred to the Delaware County Jail, where he was being held on $125,000 cash bond.’

Reynolds was charged with attempted murder as a 17-year-old in 2009 after he allegedly shot a 38-year-old man in the abdomen. He later pleaded guilty to going armed with intent and was sentenced to five years in prison, but online records show he was released from prison in December 2011.
