Winneshiek County officials have released more information about a suspect arrested during a manhunt that forced several northeast Iowa schools to be locked down as a precaution.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Department says 23-year-old Dan Wildman, of Cresco, was being sought Tuesday after officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in Calmar.

The department says Wildman was found in an outbuilding south of Ossian, but he fled on an all-terrain vehicle. The department says he was caught in a cornfield near Castalia.

He’s being held on three Howard County warrants, including one for being a felon in possession of a gun.

Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.
