Five Big Ten men’s basketball teams earned top-25 consideration, including three ranked in the top five, in the preseason USA Today Coaches’ poll.

Indiana was tabbed as the preseason No. 1 with 21 of the 31 coaches voting for the Hoosiers. Ohio State (4) and Michigan (5) followed shortly behind. Michigan State (14) and Wisconsin (21) also were ranked. Minnesota also received votes.

The Big Ten was the only league to boast five teams in the top 25. Last year six teams qualified for the NCAA tournament and three others participated in the NIT.

Iowa opens Big Ten play against Indiana on Dec. 31 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
