A front page Oct. 4 Gazette article was about “fat cats” pushing for a casino in Cedar Rapids. The investors say the casino would bring 360 quality jobs and create $200 million in revenue for the city and state in the first 10 years.
Existing casinos are worried about their profits being cannibalized by another new casino.
This whole casino scenario stinks of greed. Casinos are nothing more than legalized robbery. What does quality have anything to do with casino jobs? Casinos are gyp joints.
Quality jobs are what we send out of this country to China, Mexico and India. Beware of the fat cats. They want to gamble themselves to prosperity with your money. Another licensed casino is not what we need. If anything, we should close down all existing casinos.
It’s smarter to drive 20 to 40 miles to a casino’s temptation than be driven by it.
