Bond is set at $2 million for a man charged with killing an Iowa girl in 2005.

Casey Frederiksen made his initial court appearance in Floyd County on Tuesday. He’s charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse in the death of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller.

KCHA radio says bond was set at $1 million on each charge. Frederiksen will be appointed a public defender. A preliminary hearing is Oct. 26.

Frederiksen was the boyfriend of Miller’s mother. He was watching the girl at the family’s home in Floyd when she disappeared. Her body was found days later in the Cedar River.

Frederiksen was charged last month. He was taken into custody on Monday from a federal prison in Illinois where he was serving time on child pornography and drug charges.
