New employees

Gabe Rohwedder (see photo) joined Securian Advisors MidAmerica Inc. in Hiawatha as a financial adviser. Rohwedder is also a registered representative.

Tanager Place in Cedar Rapids named Emily Hoover (see photo) as community relations specialist. Emily Muhlbach (see photo) was named public relations specialist. Victoria Wieben (see photo) was appointed as clinical therapist. Wieben previously worked for Linn County Mental Health and Developmental Services.

Promotions

The Anamosa State Penitentiary announced three promotions. Steve Paulson (see photo) was promoted to correctional supervisor 2. Paulson was previously correctional supervisor 1. Mark Baker (see photo) and Rob Hartig (see photo) were promoted to senior correctional officer. They had been correctional officers.

Community Health Free Clinic has named Kevin Crist (see photo) to its board of directors. Crist is controller for Transamerica Financial Partners.

The Linn-Mar School Foundation announced the 2012-2013 board of directors. 2012-13 Foundation Officers are Joan McVay (see photo) Farmers State Bank, president; Amy Westfall, first vice president; Eric Martin, Transamerica, treasurer; Jennifer Skogman, Skogman Homes, secretary; and Shannon Bruns (see photo), Family Medical Services, past president. Awards

Kris Lamont (see photo) of Hiawatha, a financial adviser with Edward Jones, received the company’s Eagle Award for his “clear vision of both client and business goals” over the past year.

Jane McCune (see photo) received the Iowa Association of Realtors Good Neighbor Award. McCune is co-founder of Blank & McCune in Iowa City.

Gary D. Speicher (see photo) won the Premier Pinnacle Award presented by Premier Investments of Iowa Inc. for the second consecutive year.

Tom Anderson, with Morgan Stanley, was honored among “Best of Best” financial advisers in the country at Barron’s Top Advisors Summit in Orlando, Fla.

Achievements

Heartland Express, Inc. of Iowa was honored by the Environmental Protection Agency with the 2012 SmartWay Excellence Award for moving freight more efficiently while reducing carbon dioxide and other harmful emissions.

New business

Pinnacle Learning Center, which offers after school tutoring, will host an open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at 550 Pond View Dr., North Liberty.

Seminars

Some 50 vendors are expected for Rockwell Collins’s annual Environment Safety and Health Fair. The event will feature displays of safety and environmental products and services, along with ergonomic solutions and health care programming. The free event will be held 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Rockwell Collins Recreation Center, 800 Collins Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids.
