This week’s guest on the Mike Hlas Podcast is Jack Ebling, longtime sportscaster and broadcaster in Lansing, Mich.

Jack is here to give us insights on Michigan State’s football team as it readies itself to play Iowa Saturday. Jack, who has a new book out called “Heart of a Spartan,” also tells us how MSU football went from three straight losing seasons before Mark Dantonio arrived to back-to-back 11-win seasons in 2010 and 2011.

But Jack also has much to say Iowa and its football history, including Iowa-MSU battles of the recent past and when Hayden Fry’s top-ranked Hawkeyes beat the Spartans 35-31 in a 1985 epic.

Also, Jack talks about Alex Karras, the former Iowa defensive tackle who died Wednesday.
