An 82-year-old man was killed Wednesday when the pickup he was driving was struck by a semi-trailer truck on Highway 13 near Central City.

Cletus Brecht of Central City was eastbound on Burnett Station Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. when his pickup entered the highway and was struck by a southbound semi, according to the Linn County sheriff’s office. Deputies said Brecht was ejected from the pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup veered into the ditch after impact. The semi driver, Robert Lawrence, 65, of Delhi, was not injured.

An investigation was continuing.
