Two Cedar Rapids residents have survived after rolling their car multiple times into a farm field Tuesday evening, officials said.

Officials responded to a one-vehicle personal injury accident on Prairie School Road about a quarter mile east of Ely Road around 10:11 p.m. Richard G. Martin, 40, lost control of the car, causing it to leave the roadway and go into the north ditch. According to officials, the car continued into a farm field, rolled at least once and came to rest on all four wheels.

Martin and the only other passenger, 35-year-old Jessica B. Mifflin, were transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Both were wearing seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation.
