A professor at Drake University is injecting some feel-good at Iowa and Iowa State.

Scott Siepker

Scott Siepker has genius. So does director Paul D. Benedict.

Siepker is the host of Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Outdoors” and is an adjunct professor of acting at Drake.

At the start of the year, Siepker put out a video called “Iowa Nice” to set the rest of the nation straight about the great state of Iowa. It has had over a million views and with good reason. It’s good stuff.

Last week, Siepker debuted “Hawkeye Nice” and “Cyclone Nice,” to let people know some things the University of Iowa and Iowa State can rightfully boast about.

Oh, there just happens to be some smack directed at all the other members of the Big Ten and Big 12 Conferences.

There is no dissing of Iowa from Iowa State or vice versa, though. It’s the state against, well, the world. Nice.

Hawkeye Nice and Cyclone Nice: Take that, everybody else!
  1. I watched. Not impressed. Sorry. But congrats to Scott for picking up an ESPN gig out of this. That surely is evidence of genius. But to my sorry little brain, these videos were tremendously underwhelming…and the language…really? That’s “nice”? I guess I don’t get it, which may explain why Scott’s on ESPN and I’m commenting here.
