While progress continues on the design of the replacement of the flood-devastated Hancher Auditorium, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project is being postponed.

The event was scheduled to take place on Friday, October 19 at 4:30 p.m.†As soon as possible, another, later date will be set for the groundbreaking celebration.†This delay is not expected to impact the completion date for the replacement project.

Despite the postponement of the groundbreaking, the October 19 performance of It Gets Better featuring the Gay Menís Chorus of Los Angeles will continue as planned at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus. The performance will be the culmination of a weeklong residency focused on raising awareness about and reducing incidence of bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth.

Tickets for It Gets Better are available from the Hancher Box Office.
