Vandervelde: Back in this jersey

Offensive guard Julian Vandervelde, in his second season out of Iowa, was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad Tuesday.

What a month for the gregarious big guy from Davenport. The Eagles seemingly had kept him on their 53-player active roster for a second-straight season, but was waived on Aug. 31.

The next day, Vandervelde was claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Two days after that, the Bucs waived him. Two days after that, the Bucs signed him to their practice squad.

Last week, Tampa Bay cut Vandervelde. Today (Oct. 2), the Eagles signed him to their practice squad.

How many of you have been fired three times in about a month, and ended up with a nice-paying job? Crazy racket, pro football.
