Cornell: O’Connor collects volleyball accolade

Cornell junior outside hitter Kathleen O’Connor has been named Midwest Conference Volleyball Offensive Performer of the Week for the period ending Sept. 30.

O’Connor rose to the competition last weekend at the UW-Whitewater Invitational, where the Rams faced four teams – three nationally-ranked – with a collective 62-18 record. She posted a .231 attack percentage with 71 kills (4.44 kps) in the tournament. O’Connor was second on the team with 47 digs (2.94 dps) while adding seven total blocks and four service aces.

O’Connor had a monster three-set match against 11th-ranked Elmhurst, hitting .435 with 23 kills to go with 10 digs. She also tallied double-doubles against 15th-ranked Wartburg (19 kills, 17 digs) and 12th-ranked UW-Whitewater (14 kills, 11 digs).

O’Connor ranks third in the MWC in kills per set (3.73). She stands 10th in aces (0.35 aps). O’Connor has collected nine double-doubles on the season.
