URBANA — A fast-growing Eastern Iowa business has broken ground for an addition that will triple the size of a warehouse for its flagship brand.
Urbana-based Clickstop is adding nearly 43,000 square feet to the headquarters for its USCargoControl.com division. The project is slated for completion in December.
Clickstop’s building, which anchors Urbana’s new industrial park on Blue Creek Drive, was completed in March 2011. By January of this year, the company began to outgrow its space for USCargoControl.com, which sells lifting slings, cargo control, rigging equipment and moving supplies.
Clickstop, corporate parent of a number of online retail stores, reopened its old office space on nearby Bing Miller Lane. A group of employees work at that location on several of the company’s home goods and fashion brands, including SpaceSavers.com, EcoFoil.com, and BellyBling.net.
The continued growth of USCargoControl.com has fueled the latest need for space. The business has been adding new products and plans to begin keeping additional inventory on hand so customers can receive their orders more quickly.
Todd Kuennen, Clickstop chief financial officer, said the expansion was possible thanks to financing from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
“We were able to use the SBA 504 loan program back in 2010, when we were developing plans for our new building,” Kuennen said. “When it came time to expand further, the 504 program was again the perfect vehicle to help us move forward.”
