My guest is Mike Grimm, an Iowan who has gone north to be the radio play-by-play voice of Minnesota Gophers football and men’s basketball.
This is Mike’s second year on the football call, and he’s been witnessing a Gophers team that has shown marked improvement in Jerry Kill’s second year as Minnesota’s coach. The Gophers bring a 4-0 mark to Iowa Saturday.
It will be a homecoming for Mike, a Manchester native/Luther College graduate/former WMT-AM sports director. He gives us a rundown on the Gophers’ improvement, why he thinks replacement quarterback Max Shortell might be a better fit against Iowa than injured starter Mar’Queis Gray, and what it would take for Gopher football to make a genuine splash in the Twin Cities.
