The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids teamed up with Coca-Cola on Wednesday, September 26 to offer 200 Club members a Field Day.
Older Club members participated in activities such as a 50-yd dash, Tetherball and an Obstacle Course. Younger Club members participated in activities such as a Big Wheel Race, Basketball and a Wii Challenge. This event was funded through Coca-Cola’s Living Positive grant opportunity. The grant money was used to purchase items such as tetherballs, basketball hoops, Big Wheels, stopwatches, jump ropes and other sports equipment to inspire the kids to be more physically active.
“We are grateful to have this opportunity with Coca-Cola.” said John Tursi, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids, “It has allowed us to purchase some new equipment for our Clubs while also raising awareness to our Club members about the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyles.”
Coca-Cola supports more than 250 nutrition education and physical activity initiatives in more than 100 countries all over the world. It’s part of their commitment to inspiring individuals to lead more active, healthy lifestyles.
