A Central City man was hurt in a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening just outside the city limits, authorities said.

Mark L. Port, 55, of Central City, was eastbound on Sawyer Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control just west of Jordans Grove Road, according to the Linn County sheriff’s office. Port was thrown onto the roadway, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.

Port was not wearing a helmet, which is legal in Iowa. He was cited for failure to maintain control and no proof of insurance. Authorities were still investigating the cause of the crash.

Port was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment. Details on his condition were not immediately available.
