Ortberg named Rockwell Collins president

Rockwell Collins has named Kelly Ortberg president in a management restructuring that will split off some of the responsibilities formerly held by chairman and CEO Clay Jones.

Ortberg , 52,formerly served as executive vice president and chief operating officer over the defense side of the company’s business, Rockwell Collins Government Systems.

In the new role, Ortberg will be primarily responsible for management of the company’s operations, including the company’s government and commercial businesses and supporting functions.

Jones, 63, said in prepared remarks that he expects the management restructuring to enhance the company’s operational excellence and enhance its reputation in that area.

The company named Phil Jasper, 44, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Rockwell Collins Government Systems.
