The lady from Iowa City who is concerned about Mitt Romney not paying his fair share of taxes, needs to read the facts (“Romney not paying fair share to America,” Sept. 11 letter, Darlyne Neff).

Romney does not have a job that pays him a salary where taxes would automatically be taken out. His income is strictly on capital gains. The rate for capital gains is 15 percent (unless Obama and Congress let the Bush tax cuts expire, then it will go way back up), therefore his tax is based on the 15 percent. The year in question he gave $20 million to charity and paid $13 million in taxes. What more do you want from him?

Perhaps you should ask your president why General Electric, which makes billions here and overseas, has not paid a dime in federal corporate taxes for years.
