Sep. 19, 2012 7:35 am
A 20-year-old Iowa City man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a non-fatal shooting.
Iowa City police were called about a fight at 2200 Lower Muscatine Road about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release. Initial reports indicated that a person had been shot, and when officers arrived they found a person with non life-threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot, according to police.
The victim, who has not been identified by police, was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and investigators found a gun believed to have been used in the incident at the scene, police reported.
A follow-up investigation led officers to suspect Kenny Brayans Ardon-Hernandez in the shooting. He was arrested on suspicion of intimidation with a weapon and possession of a firearm, both felonies, and carrying weapons, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
Anyone with more information about the incident can call Iowa City police investigator Andrew Rich at 319-356-5276.
Ardon-Hernandez has a long criminal history in Iowa, including six juvenile cases and a felony theft case that ended in a plea deal last year, according to online court records. Ardon-Hernandez's juvenile record includes felony gang recruitment and conspiracy charges at age 13, felony gang participation charges at age 14, and drug, alcohol, trespassing and theft charges.
State court records list Ardon-Hernandez's alias as "Boxer."
