Iowa City police are currently investigating an incident in which plants were destroyed in front of a building on the Pedestrian Mall.

According to a release from the Iowa City police department, a woman was caught, on surveillance cameras, ripping plants out of the planters located in front of Hotel Vetro at 201 S. Linn St. Police said the plants were destroyed as a result of the woman’s actions on Sept. 2 at 9:20 p.m.

The release said the police department is investigating as part of an effort to lower nuisance behaviors downtown, and Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
