Here’s the info and a reminder.

You know Brett Greenwood’s story. If you think of it, please donate to the Brett Greenwood Foundation.

“I’m not sure who’s organizing it, but I think it’s a show of support for a tremendous young man, a guy who’s been working hard and battling and who’s doing a great job,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said on his radio show Wednesday night. “I think it’s a great tribute for a guy we’re all thinking about.”

This is an e-mail I received, and so let’s spread the word:

This Saturday (9/22) will be the 2nd annual GREEN OUT at Kinnick Stadium to support Brett Greenwood in his recovery from his traumatic injury last year.  PLEASE help spread the word around the Iowa City area to wear green to the Iowa game this weekend against CMU.

Ferentz also said this about Iowa’s RBs for Saturday: Unlikely on Bullock; we’ll see with Garmon. Chance he’ll go, he is practicing. Canzeri would like to play.

I think he plays.

Green for Greenwood — Do it! (with RB update)
  1. OK, OK, Greenwood is a great cause and I appreciate but come on. I only go to one or two games a year and someone is always telling me what to wear. I have a shirt I’ve worn to the Penn State game when they were undefeated and the Michigan game we won last year. Can’t find the shirt I wore when we beat Nebby in ’81(think mom threw it out) but this current shirt is only seen one loss in the last 8 years. So please don’t think I’m uncaring if I show up with a gold shirt with a picture of Herky on it. I’m just making sure Iowa wins the game. Well it is Central Michigan, how bout I wear it under a green shirt but if the game is within two scores I’m stripping it off. “Ma, I’m done writing my comment!” Sorry got to go she’s making tacos!

    • Maybe just wear a green wristband or hat? Make it an accent color?

There is a lot of telling you what color to wear. I think this one is worthy.

  2. This is not about what color of shirt you should or shouldn’t wear. This is about showing support for an outstanding individual who has gone through a lot the past few years. If a person wants to wear Black and Gold instead of green, then they should do it. Greenwood would want it that way. I absolutely love you suggestion about wearing a green wristband or some type of green accent to show support. The “green out” is about showing support for a fellow Hawkeye in need, not a fashion statment. We all should show support in one way or another so Brett can see we are at least thinking about him and that he is in our prayers. I sure hope I see a bunch of green this Saturday. GO HAWKS!

  3. All right you shamed me into it, it’s the least I can do considering the great moments Greenwood gave us fans.
