Car hits pedestrian near Washington High School

Victim taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries

A high school-age person was hit by a vehicle near Washington High School Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday to a car-pedestrian crash outside Washington High School on Cottage Grove Avenue SE, near the corner of Eastern Blvd. SE. According to police reports, the driver allegedly hit the pedestrian, who then hit the car’s windshield, rolled over the vehicle and broke the back window.

Police said the male pedestrian, who wasn’t identified by name, was taken to Mercy Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
