Political discourse or offensive overtones

I am insulted by The Gazette’s choice to print the Sept. 13 letter by Phil Cox, “Where are the godless communists now?” while near simultaneously choosing to end online commenting on letters.

This, in particular, offends me: “ …the term godless communist has fallen into disuse. The reason is because there are so many at the core of the Democratic Party. We saw them at last week’s convention, booing inclusion of a reference to God in the Democrats’ platform. Of course, it is no surprise that the party of abortion and buggery is the new home of the godless communists.”

That comment alone would have been deleted from the online comments per the rules of engagement, yet The Gazette chose to publish it.

Perhaps The Gazette doesn’t earn enough advertising revenue to pay editors to monitor online comments.
