Iowa City police are investigating a car accident that left one Iowa City teenager dead overnight.

According to a release from the Iowa City police department, 19-year-old Bharati Mashay Windmon was involved in a single car rollover on Highway 1 West between Hawk Ridge and Sunset streets at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The release said Windmon received fatal injuries as a result of the accident, and the remaining passengers received minor injuries. There were five people in the car at the time of the accident.

Iowa City police, University of Iowa police, the Johnson County Sheriff’s department and the Johnson County ambulance service responded to the accident. Police said the crash is under investigation.
