Look deeper into increased driver deaths

“Speed kills more”(Gomers, Sept. 10) assumes increased speed is the sole cause for increased deaths.

Were more licensed vehicles on the road or more miles traveled? Have they recorded actual speeds traveled? Maybe deaths have dropped per mile traveled. Don’t cite a superficial look at state records. You may arrive at a wrong conclusion.
