Nothing very complicated to explain this week. If you lost, you got bounced from my ballot. Adios, Wisconsin and Nebraska. (And Oklahoma State, too.)

Wisconsin had just 207 yards of offense in a 10-7 loss at previously unranked Oregon State. Bye bye, Badgers.

Nebraska allowed 665 yards in its 36-30 defeat at previously unranked UCLA. Hasta la vista, Huskers.

I had to toss Michigan, too, after I had the Wolverines 25th last week just because it played Alabama. Beating Air Force 31-25 at home … win at Notre Dame in two weeks and then we’ll talk.

So that leaves Michigan State and Ohio State.

My top seven didn’t change. I shot Kansas State well up the list after the Wildcats mauled Miami (Fla.) in Manhattan, 52-13. K-State quarterback Collin Klein averaged 19 yards per pass attempt, and rushed for 71 yards and three TDs. Good player. Again, his name is Collin Klein. You’ll be hearing it as we get deeper into autumn, like Brandon Weeden and Robert Griffin III last year.

On with my ballot:

1. Alabama

2. LSU

3. USC

4. Oregon

5. Florida State

6. Oklahoma

7. Georgia

8. Michigan State

9. South Carolina

10. Clemson

11. West Virginia

12. Kansas State. Have I mentioned Collin Klein?

13. Ohio State

14. Texas

15. Florida

16. Tennessee

17. TCU

18. Virginia Tech

19. UCLA

20. Mississippi State

21. Notre Dame

22. Arizona

23. Stanford

24. Ohio. Two wins down, 12 to go for a perfect season. You’ve been warned, Alabama.

25. Oregon State
