Understanding Obama’s health care reform

American people have heard too many distortions about what Obama’s health care law does.

l 3.1 million young Americans, ages 18-26, are now covered under their parents’ health insurance.

l 32 million Americans will now have access to affordable health coverage.

l 105 million people have seen lifetime limits on their insurance lifted.

l 33 million people with Medicare have taken advantage of free preventive care services.

Health care reform has helped millions of Americans obtain insurance. It’s set to help millions more gain access to affordable care in the near future. Yet, Republicans in Congress have still tried to overturn or defund Obama’s health care plan more than 30 times in the past two years.

Republicans want to go back to square one and have the same fight all over again. If conservatives can call the new health care plan “ObamaCare,” then every time a family is forced to file bankruptcy due to medical bills or a sick child is dropped from the family health insurance policy or a patient dies because they cannot afford the high insurance premiums, we can call that plan Republican care.
