EXPENSIVE CHASE: A Waterloo man deliberately rammed three police cars with his vehicle before officers were able to force him to stop, authorities reported last week. Bobby Wolf faces 10 criminal charges from the chase, while two of six marked vehicles belonging to the Hiawatha Police Department and one from Robins sustained damage that could exceed $30,000. On the bright side, no one was seriously injured.

LOST WAGES: Research by the non-profit Iowa Policy Project claims Iowa workers lose up to $600 million from wage theft each year. This includes non-payment or under payment of wages, violations involving jobs for tipped employees, unauthorized deductions or employees improperly classified as independent contractors, which avoids requirements of paying minimum wage and overtime. The state has one full-time wage claims investigator who has eight times the average workload nationwide.
