IOWA CITY - Drivers should expect delays when entering or exiting Interstate 80 at Dubuque Street this week, the Iowa Department of Transportation reported.

The I-80 widening project is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 1, sooner than expected because of nice weather, said Hugh Holak, resident construction engineer with the DOT's Manchester office.

"October 1 is a very realistic goal to have all the pavement cleaned up and all six lanes open," he said.

Work near the junction with Dubuque Street will cause delays Wednesday for people entering I-80 westbound, Holak said. The I-80 exit ramp onto Dubuque Street may be backed up on Thursday, he said.
