Earlier this month, second-year New York Giants safety Tyler Sash of Iowa got a four-game suspension by the NFL for using a banned prescription drug (Adderall) in the offseason.

Sash was scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Monday, presumably to try to get the suspension knocked down. It’s been known to happen.

But Sash had a bad Sunday. He was carted off the field during the Giants’ practice.

“His ankle locked up is what they said to me,” Tom Coughlin said in the nj.com story linked in the previous paragraph. “Otherwise I have no idea.”

Tough month.

UPDATE: Sash said Monday that he had bone spurs in the ankle and it sometimes locks up. The ankle was not fractured.
