Kyle Meyer
University of Iowa freshman basketball player Kyle Meyer was arrested overnight for public intoxication by University of Iowa police.
Meyer, 18, was taken into custody at a Hillcrest Hall restroom at 12:41 a.m. this morning. He later was released from the Johnson County Jail after paying an undisclosed bond. He was due back in court at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Meyer hails from Alpharetta, Ga., and is one of five incoming freshmen for the Iowa men’s basketball team. Classes begin on Monday.
Big deal! He had a little fun!
I think the big deal is he should have had some friends to take care of him instead of him getting arrested!
we all have done it…….but then there wasnt a $100,000 dollar education on the line…….Dah, wise up
Let me understand this. A guy is in his dorm, goes to the john, and gets arrested now? Is this not absurd? Absurd, intrusive, and harassing? There are guys with guns in the dorm lavatories, staking out for drunk freshmen?
Due-Don offers this is the best and correct analysis of this situation.
Sorry, meant Sue-Don.
That’s quite the analysis you’ve come up with based on one sentence.
Wow that is pretty bad isnt it. Sure wish there was an edit feature.
How about, “What she said”
John, Sue-Don is a *boy* named Sue-etc.
It occurs to me that Meyer passed out in the john so someone called the cops. That’s the only thing that I can think of that might trigger an arrest *at the student’s home*. Even if that is so it’s still a waste of money and resources, and the UCops have no business prosecuting public intox *when a guy is at home.* If they have time to patrol lavatories and arrest people, they have too many cops.
I agreee! What are these cops doin in the Dorm restroom? Are they Jerry Sandusky wanna be’s?
I guess the university would of rather had him urinate out the window of his dorm room instead of the rest room. As long as he was in his own dorm, the school needs to lighten up. Kids are going to drink so better at the dorm then out on the streets. But then that is the Iowa Hawkeyes school so what can you expect from them?
At least it was not another running back.
The real story her isn’t that Meyer got drunk, it’s that I.C. cops are such dbags these days. Seriously, they couldn’t have just walked him to his room and let him off with a warning. I suspect if he was just a non-athlete student that’s exactly what they would have done.
mIKE sHERRILL i AGREE WITH YOU!
It was UI police, not ICPD. And, considering there is no report out yet that says more about what happened, it’s pretty absurd to start freaking out at the cops. But, since this is the internet, I shouldn’t expect anything else.
