Agent needlessly pulled from crime unit

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation provides vital investigative support and expertise to law enforcement agencies across the state — a vital resource, especially when crime strikes a small town with few resources (like Evansdale).

Instead of supporting these agents and the work they do, Secretary of State Matt Schultz has taken Special Agent Daniel Dawson away from his duties in the major crimes unit so he can help Schultz investigate non-existent instances of voter fraud — to the tune of 280,000 taxpayer dollars. Instead of having Dawson work for the secretary’s office, Schultz should consider spending his time supporting the DCI. They are the ones who have real work to do.
