FBI spokesperson Sandy Breault confirmed Thursday morning that the search for a while van, and a possible person of interest, in Evansdale was prompted by the attempted abduction case in Cedar Rapids this week.

Authorities issued a photo taken by a convenience store camera Wednesday in an attempt to locate someone who had visited an Evansdale convenience store on the afternoon of July 13.  That’s the day two cousins, Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, vanished near Meyers Lake.

Breault said investigators had no connection between the person, and the white van, in the Evansdale photos to the search for the missing girls.  However, the attempted abduction in Cedar Rapids reported Wednesday prompted officers to review the surveillance images and locate the person and white van shown in the images.

The person involved saw the photos and talked to authorities.  The FBI says he cooperated and is not a suspect.
