I really enjoyed Marc Morehouse’s three-part interview with Kirk Ferentz. It gave a good insight into the human side of coach as a husband and father.

I ran into coach several years ago at an Iowa City barbershop. He came across as a regular guy. There was no arrogance or “I’m better than you” attitude. We didn’t even talk football. We talked about the tragedy that had just struck Parkersburg. He was getting ready to go with some of the players to help with the cleanup after the tornado.

As an Iowa fan for more than 50 years, we’ve been very fortunate to have men like Hayden Fry and Kirk Ferentz as our head coach. I hope coach Ferentz stays around until he’s ready to retire. Go Hawks.
