Tours of the Johnson County jail will be offered as county officials prepare for a public vote on financing for a criminal justice center.

Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said in a news release Monday that there will be two weekday tours and one on the weekend each month, starting in August. For space and staffing reasons, only 10 people at a time will be allowed.

A $46.8 million bond issue will be on the Nov. 6 ballot to help fund a justice center that would include a new county jail and court space. Officials say the current facilities are too small and have security problems.

The August tour dates are 6 p.m. Aug. 7 and Aug. 21 and 1 p.m. Aug. 25.
