Thank you for your coverage of the proposal by more than 30 businesses and organizations to create 20,000 renewable energy jobs by 2020 (“20,000 renewable energy jobs seen,” July 11).

The Iowa Chapter of the Sierra Club was one of the co-signers on this proposal because Iowans can create thousands of jobs, save billions of dollars and do what is necessary for the environment through energy efficiency, renewable energy and transportation solutions.

We actively opposed the proposed bill for special ratepayer subsidies for nuclear power this year. Thank goodness the Iowa Senate stopped it.
