Not a good year for Iowa rookies who signed with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots signed two undrafted rookies out of Iowa this spring.

Last month, tight end Brad Herman tore his Achilles during a Patriots organized team activity and was placed on injured reserve. His season is likely over.

Thursday, the team’s rookies reported to training camp. Offensive lineman Markus Zusevics failed his physical and was placed on the team’s non-football injury list.

Zusevics didn’t participate in offseason workouts after injuring his pectoral muscle during the NFL draft combine, and he was placed on the non-football injury list because the injury didn’t come on the Patriots’ watch.

Veteran offensive lineman Robert Gallery signed a free agent contract with New England in the offseason. Let’s hope things turn out better for him.
