In the wake of the ongoing scandal involving Penn State University, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany is circulating a proposal that could give him and a league committee the power to fire coaches for unethical deeds, penalize schools for reputation-damaging issues or possibly boot Penn State from the Big Ten Conference, the Chronicle of Higher Education reports.

The proposal is prompted by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abusing young boys and Penn State officials actively trying to conceal the abuse.
